A man who played a major role in the lives of thousands of men in the GTA has passed away.
Weight-loss coach and longtime support of NEWSTALK 1010, Harvey Brooker, died Thursday morning.
Brooker founded Harvey Brooker Weight Loss for Men in 1985 and conducted tens of thousands of one-on-one coaching sessions with men trying to improve their health.
He had lost 50 pounds himself in 1971 and the change transformed his life.
Brooker's funeral service will be held Friday afternoon at Benjamin's Park Memorial Chapel in North York.

Brooker was heard on NEWSTALK 1010 for decades.
His slogan: "If you could do it alone, you would have done it already."
Mayor John Tory remembers Brooker fondly, "Harvey Brooker inspired hundreds of men, including me, to lose weight and thus improve their health and longevity. He literally saved lives and he did so through his acquired knowledge and the power of his personality. Many families owe a debt of gratitude to Harvey Brooker. I extend my condolences to his wife Helen who was his partner in business as well as in life, and to all of the members of the Brooker family."
