The Globe and Mail is quoting former Mississauga Mayor Hazel McCallion as saying she hasn't formally agreed to be a special adviser to Premier Doug Ford and the ministry responsible for housing.
The 97-year old says she spoke with staff from the Ministry last Friday about the consulting job but says she's awaiting further details from the government, noting that she has numerous other part-time commitments and isn't sure the role would fit her schedule.
It was last Friday that the Ford government issued a news release saying that McCallion had been appointed to a position that pays up to $150,000 dollars per year.
In a written statement to NEWSTALK 1010, an official with the Premier's office says:
"After discussions between the Government and Hazel McCallion, cabinet made the decision to appoint her as a Special Advisor to the Minister and Premier."
"As Hazel told the Globe and Mail earlier this week, she is 'very delighted' with her appointment," it says.
"We look forward to working with her."
