Some big changes could be coming for workers in this province.
A report is expected in the coming days that will make recommendations on changes to Ontario's labour laws.
The Changing Workplaces Review has been underway since 2015. A pair of advisors were tasked with collecting feedback and recommending changes.
Last July, they came back with more than 200 ideas including mandatory paid sick days, at least three weeks of paid vacation and compensation for last minute schedule changes. They're also considering a rule that would require employers to pay the same wage to part timers as they do full timers in similar positions.
Employment Lawyer, Howard Levitt, thinks the proposed changes would be bad news for businesses.
"If you want to make companies less flexible, if you want to increase their costs, if you want to decrease their profit margin... that's a great way to accomplish that," Levitt told NEWSTALK 1010's Jerry Agar.
The current labour laws in Ontario date back to the 1990s.
