We are learning new details about the suspect in that police cruiser video showing a handcuffed man pulling out a gun.
He's been identified by police as 38-year-old Ali Showbeg.
New this morning, the Toronto Sun reports this man has quite a past with law enforcement.
They say he was charged 15 years ago with attempted murder but there is no record of a conviction in that case.
It was related to a shooting outside a grocery store near Albion and Islington.
The Sun reports that Showbeg was convicted on gun charges in 2006 which led to a lifetime weapons ban.
He's also been convicted on drug charges.
We heard from police Chief Mark Saunders yesterday, "The officers conducted a search of the accused and the gun was not detected."
We'll be looking for answers this morning, on whether the arresting officers would have known about the past convictions, and if so, why the suspect wasn't searched more thoroughly.
