New details are emerging about the man shot dead in front of his restaurant in Roncesvalles.
Sources speaking to the Toronto Star say 64 year old Paolo Caputo was killed because his associates owed $5 million to a Mexican drug cartel.
He was killed in broad-daylight on Friday, outside Domani Restaurant.
The debt reportedly stems from a drug rip-off connected to the killing of John Raposo. He's the man who was gunned down on a crowded patio in Little Italy in 2012.
One of the men convicted in his murder, is Caputo's older brother.
Sources tell the Star that the cartel fronted drugs to Raposo, Martino Caputo and others but never got all the money they were owed.
They say Paolo Caputo also had connections with Canada's top mob boss. He reportedly hosted Vito Rizzuto at a now-closed restaurant and was involved in poker games that funnelled cash to the Rizzuto.
