RBC says employees at its building at King St. and Yonge St. will not be allowed back in for at least six months.
The building was damaged in a hydro vault explosion on May 1st that sent thick smoke billowing out of grates in the street.
There were no injuries in the blast but the building was evacuated and King Street was closed for several hours.
A statement from RBC reads, "The fire at 20 King Street caused significant damage to the building. Based on the environmental assessments and remediation work which is required, we have been advised that it will be a minimum of six months before our employees can return to the building. The safety and security of our employees is our top priority and all of our affected employees have been relocated to other locations."
So far, the official cause of the explosion has not been released but fire and hydro officials have speculated it may have been caused by flooding due to heavy rain.
