Day 11 of the Federal campaign getting off on the right foot for the Conservatives, who woke up Saturday morning with a bigger margin of voter support.
That's according to the latest CTV News/Globe and Mail/Nanos Poll released early Saturday morning, which showed the Conservatives in front at nearly 37 percent, compared to 32 percent for the reigning Liberals.
A low percentage of support the Liberals haven't seen in some time, according to pollster Nik Nanos, who joined Dave Trafford on the Weekend morning show.
"It might be four years since the Liberals have been at 32 percent, at least in the Nanos tracking. They're definitely on a negative trajectory in the last three days."
The downward turn perhaps not unexpected, given the tumultuous week that was for the Prime Minister, with the brownface/blackface scandal.
Nanos adds not only did the Conservatives gain in the weekly polling because of it, but have been trending upwards for a while.
"Back in August they were at 31%, so they're up 6 points."
Despite the fallout for Trudeau, he remains the preferred choice of voters to lead Canada as Prime Minister, although Nanos points to a shrinking margin there as well.
"What's clear is that Andrew Scheer has been the main benificiery of the drop in undecided. He started off back 10 points and now he's within 3 points of Justin Trudeau."
Trudeau leads that race at 32%, Scheer is second at 29%, NDP leader Jagmeet Singh a distant third with 10% support.
The daily tracking figures are based on a three-day rolling sample comprised of 1,200 interviews.
The margin of error for a survey of 1,200 respondents is ±2.8 percentage points, 19 times out of 20.
