This is not your average case of distracted driving.
A woman in her 50's was stopped this morning, in Whitby.
But what makes this different, is that she was behind the wheel of a school bus, packed with kids on their way to school.
OPP Sgt Kerry Schmidt tells NEWSTALK 1010, that the woman was stopped at a light and quickly turned her attention to her phone.
Traffic started to move in front of the bus, but still she didn't look up.
Not even a police cruiser, with lights and sirens blaring, caught her attention.
The woman was ticketed and faces a $490 fine, and allowed to go on her way.
No one on the bus was hurt.
But Schmidt reminds drivers that as of January 1st, the fine increases to $1000 and your license is suspended for three days.
The Durham Regional School Board has told NEWSTALK 1010, the driver was not one of theirs.
The Catholic Board has yet to respond to the question of if the driver will be fired.
