Police in York Region have announced that a second person has been charged in the case surrounding an alleged assault and sexual assault involving a 14-year-old in Aurora.
Officers now say a 32-year-old man has been charged with accessory after the fact.
The new details come in the same release as the one that outlined the charges against the 22-year-old, who'd been arrested in the attack.
He's now been identified as Emilio Gonzalez Ramirez, who is facing five charges in all. They include, aggravated sexual assault and assault with a weapon.
The other person charged is Santiago Gonzalez Ramirez, also from Newmarket. He has a relation to the accused, but police won't elaborate.
"We point out often that anybody who is assisting in any way, evading police in terms of a suspect being identified, can face these types of charges." says Constable Laura Nicolle.
The victim in this case is a 14-year-old girl, who managed to give investigators enough information in the early hours of the investigation, so they could release a composite sketch of the suspect.
That was one that appeared to be very close to what the person actually looked like.
"I can also tell you from looking at the accused, that the victim did a remarkable job at sharing information with our investigators and the detail on that sketch is very, very accurate."
Police wouldn't comment on how the girl is doing since the attack, but says all officers at York Regional Police and many in the commuity are thinking of her.
