There are severe thunderstorm watches and warnings posted for areas all over the GTA as a cold front is expected to move in, putting an end to the muggy weather we've been forced to deal with.
For a short time, Environment Canada posted a severe thunderstorm warning for areas of York Region, including Newmarket, Richmond Hill, Vaughan and Markham. That warning had ended at 1:20pm.
Toronto is included in a list of areas faced with a severe thunderstorm watch. That spreadsĀ to the west and includes places like Halton, Peel and Hamilton.
Forecasters say the ingredients are right for storms.
"We are in a soupy airmass, lots of humidity and lots of heat" says Gerald Chang from Environment Canada.
What that means is we could see heavy downpours, and strong gusts of wind with the possibility of seeing hail over the course of the day, into this evening.
"We won't see things calm down until later tonight, when a cold front passes through." says Chang.
