The kid did it again.
18 year old Richmond Hill native Denis Shapovalov electrified the crowds
at the Rogers Cup in Montreal Friday night and did it the hard way. After dropping his opening
quarter final set to Frenchman Adrian Mannarino,Shapovalov roared back to win the next
two sets and win the match advancing to the semi finals. Perhaps feeling some fatigue after his emotional and stunning upset of the tournament's top seed Rafa Nadal Thursday night.
"I'm so happy to come out with a win. I felt so slugish in the first set, I felt I was dragging my feet out there and wasn't really setting up the balls. He(Mannarino) came out firing which is was very smart you know, knowing that I had a battle yesterday. I just kept fighting like I have been all week and I got to turn it around."
Shapovalov is already the youngest player to ever reach the semis of an ATP
World tour Masters 1000 event.
