Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for most of southern Ontario, including Toronto and the GTA for significant amounts of rain this weekend.
The rain is expected to start Saturday evening and continue through to Sunday night leaving behind between 25 and 40 millimetres in areas.
Severe Weather Meteorologist Ria Alsen says a substanial area of low pressure is heading up from the U.S. bringing this weather.
The possibility of thunderstorms in the GTA could increase the amount of rain in areas Alsen says.
"It's going to be like a spring day in November," Alsen adds with the wind and mild temperatures expected Sunday.
Alsen says the heaviest rain is expected late day Sunday into Sunday evening, but everything is expected to be over by Monday morning's commute.
