The Special Investigations Unit has been called in to investigate a police chase that led to a serious crash.
Police said around 1 p.m. Saturday, officers were trying to stop a vehicle on Rymal Road in Hamilton.
The vehicle hit another car and took down a light standard at the same time.
A 44-year-old woman who was driving the car was injured.
A 10-year-old child, who was also in the car, wasn't hurt.
The driver of the suspect vehicle took off on foot.
The SIU says it has assigned four investigators and two forensic investigators to the incident.
The SIU is called to investigate any incident involving an Ontario police officer and a member of the public that results in death, serious injury or an allegation of sexual assault
