The Province's police watch dog is investigating after a man was hit and killed by a vehicle on Highway 115 in Clarington.
The Special Investigations Unit says Durham Regional Police officers spotted a veihcle they were trying to find on the northbound lanes of Highway 115 Tuesday evening, north of Taunton Road.
They managed to stop the vehicle, but there was an interaction between an officer and a man in the car. The man ran across the northbound lanes of Hwy. 115 and into the southbound lanes where he was hit by a pick up truck.
The man, in his 30's was pronounced dead on the scene.
Five investigators and two forensic investigators have been assigned to investigate this incident.
The SIU is an arm’s length agency that investigates reports involving police where there has been death, serious injury or allegations of sexual assault.
