The province’s Special Investigations Unit is on the case after a 30-year-old Hamilton man was shot near Highway 401 west of Kitchener.
Waterloo Regional Police tell CTV Kitchener the man was shot by one of their officers around 4:30 p.m. Saturday, near Homer Watson Boulevard and Highway 401.
The man was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries.
Police said the man was wanted in connection with a break and enter in Hamilton earlier that day, where a number of firearms were stolen.
Waterloo police said they caught up with the suspect in Cambridge. The man was shot during a foot chase.
