As freezing rain blanketed parts of the GTA Tuesday morning, your car tires weren't the only things sliding around.
Toronto Paramedics saw a huge spike in the number of calls to help people who had slipped and fallen.
Kim McKinnon with Toronto Paramedic Services says before 9 a.m., there were only a couple of calls for slip and falls but the number spiked to about 35 during the 9 o'clock hour.
She says that number, "would be unusual and would be indicating that there's definitely black ice out there."
The injuries ranged from bruises, to broken bones, to bumps to the head.
McKinnon says those with mobility issues may want to think twice about going out on icy days.
"If you do go out, make sure you have good soled shoes and that you're really hanging onto the banister and planting your foot down," she says.
