Environment Canada has issued a snow squall watch for parts of the Greater Toronto Area.
The advisory covers areas including Northern York and Durham regions, Newmarket and Georgina
The agency expects 5-10 cm of snow to come down today with the risk of snow squalls developing. It warns drivers could suddenly lose all visibility.
There is only a chance of forecasted flurries for the rest of the GTA Friday after a few centimetres of snowfall Thursday. The region could be in for a dump of snow Sunday into Monday.
Barrie and Collingwood are among areas to the north and west of the GTA that are under a snow squall warning. Environment Canada says those zones could see 15-25 cm of snow with the strongest likelihood of snow squalls on Friday night.
