School boards across the province are currently scrambling, to figure out what to do in the event of a strike by CUPE educational support workers.
A spokesperson for the Toronto District School Board admitted the situation is fluid, but they anticipate having schools open on Monday.
"We have had strikes before, and we have kept our schools open." says Shari Schwartz-Maltz from the TDSB.
But she's encouraging to keep checking their website for any developments that may arise that could potentially lead to the closure of a school.
There does appear to be an issue in York Region where the YRDSB has released a memo, along with a warning to parents.
"Families are strongly encouraged to begin making alternate childcare arrangements for their children prior to the strike beginning Monday, October 7, 2019. This strike action may result in school closures. More information will soon be available as we consider the effect of the full strike."
They too are encouraging families to keep checking their website for updates.
CUPE says they have differing levels of representation in schools around the province. That means some will close, while others won't be affected at all.
In Waterloo, the Catholic Board there, says if the strike goes forward, they have no choice but to close down their schools.
