A father and son from Richmond Hill have been granted bail; arrested this week after York Regional Police were contacted by border officials in Canada and the US.
Police searched their home and allegedly found explosive materials and chemicals but haven't specified what.
The feds have assured us there's no known connection to national security.
Reza Mohammadiasyl, 47, and his son Mayhor, 18, have been released under a list of conditions that include a 9 pm-6 am curfew.
Mayhor's conditions are far more strict than his father's; he cannot spend a moment alone, always needed to be in the custody of his mom, cousin or uncle. He can't be in possession of a cell phone and can't use the Internet unless he's being supervised by one of those three family members.
A source tells NEWSTALK 1010 there are a sea of red flags that suggest Mayhor, an admitted loner, may have been on the cusp of radicalization.
The FBI has his cell phone and when investigators are done scouring through it the phone will be handed over to York Regional Police.
Mayhor and his father return to court next month.
