Environment Canada says keep those umberllas close by ahead of the rain coming to the GTA.
A special weather statment issued for all of southern Ontario including the GTA and city of Toronto warning of between 15 and 25 millimetres of rain Tuesday night into Wednesday.
Environment Canada's advisory says "Rain is expected to spread across southern Ontario from the west to east tonight and taper off on Wednesday. Although rainfall amounts are not expected to be overly significant, the ground has a reduced ability to absorb further rainfall due to recent rains and snowmelt."
The Toronto Region Conservation Authority has issued a Watershed Conditions Statement because of the rain.
"Recent warm weather has led to snowmelt and has created saturated ground conditions, which coupled with the forecasted rainfall amounts will result in higher than normal water levels and flows in our rivers and streams, as well as slippery and unstable banks."
"Please exercise caution around all bodies of water and avoid driving through ponded water. Please alert any children under your care of these dangers and supervise their activities. Please keep children and pets away from the slippery and unstable banks. We are continuing to monitor conditions. This Water Safety Watershed Conditions Statement will be in effect through to noon Thursday, March 2, 2017. TRCA will continue to monitor the weather and watershed conditions and provide an update should the weather system and watershed conditions escalate to more severe conditions."
The statement remains in effect until March 2nd.
