Still very few answers following a police-involved shooting near McCowan Road, south of Town Centre Court in Scarborough, just after noon today.
NEWSTALK1010 reached out to Toronto Police, but they would not comment, since the Special Investigations Unit had invoked its mandate.
What we do know, is that a 37 year-old man, who was a person of interest in an investigation, was being observed by officers.
According to the SIU, just after 12 p.m., several officers in unmarked vehicles, proceeded to conduct a takedown of a red pickup truck, being driven by the man.
There was some sort of interaction and officers are said to have discharged their firearms.
The man was struck multiple times and was taken to hospital with serious injuries. There's no update on his condition at this time.
Five investigators and three forensic investigators have been assigned to the case.
The man who was injured is in custody, however there's no word on charges.
The SIU is an arm’s length agency that investigates reports involving police where there has been death, serious injury or allegations of sexual assault.
