The City of Toronto thinks it's found what was causing water to flow from taps that smelled and tasted foul.
3-1-1 started to ring off the hook last night from residents in East York and parts of downtown.
65 complaints were made in a 12-hour span.
The sulphur stench began when a basinĀ that was taken offline to be upgraded and treated with Aluminum Sulphate was put back online, some of it hadn't fully cleared out.
"It's a safe issue, at no time was the water quality impacted or impaired; it was always well within regulatory requirements," says General Manager of Toronto Lou Di Gironimo.
He says chlorine levels had also been increased which contributed to a different smell and taste; that water has been flushed out.
