Police are now saying it was street racing that caused a crash on Thanksgiving Monday, claiming the lives of four people.
Two sisters were among the people killed when a Trans Am being driven by Calisto Mendonca, slammed into another vehcile on Bovaird, near Hurontario in Brampton.
Police allege Mendonca was travelling at a high rate of speed, westbound on Bovaird just prior to the collision. They say another vehicle was doing the same.
But for some reason, Mendonca changed lanes abruptly, lost control and crossed over into the oncoming lanes.
At that point the Trans Am slammed head on into the car being driven by 24-year-old Brian McGinnis. Both cars burst into flames.
Also killed in the crash was 22-year-old Lauren Bouchard and her 16-year-old sister Michelle.
Staff Sergeant Carty, of the Major Collision Bureau stated, "It is very likely that the other driver involved is aware of this collision. Our investigators would like to speak with that driver."
Cops are also looking to speak with anyone who may have seen the Trans Am in the moments before the crash.
