You may have less to choose from on your grocery run this week.
For the second time in as many as years there is a strike on at Etobicoke's Ontario Food Terminal, the 'stock exchange' for fruits and vegetables.
25 employees of Ippolito Produce went on strike at midnight and started picketing outside the Queensway facility near Park Lawn Rd at 3 a.m. Tuesday.
The employees are slowing access to the produce distribution centre, a move the union says could have an affect on grocers and restaurants.
"They may or may not have as much produce as they had yesterday," Ken Dean with Teamsters Local 419 tells NEWSTALK 1010. "We're hoping to make an impact. We're available to talk if the company wants to start getting their heads around the type of things that we need."
Dean says the union is after better wages, including pay of time and a half for overtime hours.
Ippolito supplies produce including leafy greens, broccoli, cauliflower, artichokes and squash.
The food terminal says 5.5 million pounds of produce move through its facility every day.
In the spring of 2016, employees of Fresh Taste Produce at the food terminal went on strike for about two weeks in pursuit of their first collective agreement.
