A tentative deal has been reached that could end a two and a half month long strike by some baggage handlers and grounds crew at Pearson Airport.
700 Swissport employees represented by Teamsters Local 419 have been on strike since July 28. The union had flagged wages, benefits, a work-life balance and the use of temporary workers as issues in the labour dispute.
Christopher Monette, director of public affairs at Teamsters Canada tells NEWSTALK 1010 the bargaining team is recommending their members approve the new contract.
Monette says a date for a ratification vote has not yet been set.
Swissport workers service 30 of the 74 airlines operating at Pearson, including Air Transat, Sunwing, Air France and British Airways.
