The first week of the crackdown on drivers who clog up city streets, seems to be having an effect.
That's from Toronto Parking Enforcement officials, getting reports from their front line workers.
During the first five days of the campaign, police have ticketed almost 17 hundred vehicles and towed more than 370.
That represents an increase of 23% when it comes to tickets and 14% increase in vehicles towed.
What's also interesting, is the number of delivery and shredding trucks that have been towed during this blitz.
"We towed 26 last week, so an average of five to six per day." says Brian Moniz from Parking Enforcement.
On a normal week, that number would often be zero.
"We have to request special towing equipment, and it can take up to two hours for that equipment to come downtown." says Moniz.
But during this blitz, they have one or two of the heavy tow trucks on standby, strategically placed in the downtown core.
That has allowed them to swoop in quicker, and get the offending vehicle hauled away.
The blitz will continue through February 1st.
