When school starts next week, students at Toronto's public school will continue to have no access to Netflix, Snapchat, and Instagram if they are on WiFi paid for by the school board.
The TDSB has decided to continue blocking students from those apps until at least 2018.
The board first blocked the websites in May because one fifth of network capacity was being used up by those three websites, and teachers were having a hard time completing important work.
The school board was working on improving network capacity and speed over the summer, but there have been delays.
In the spring, some students found a way around the censor by downloading an app that allowed to bypass the block.
TDSB spokesperson Ryan Bird says they are aware of that and IT staff are doing what they can to make sure that is minimized as much as possible.
