The Toronto District School Board will be taking a more relaxed approach to the way students dress starting next school year.
The board has decided to make changes to its dress code, allowing students to show their midriffs and wear spaghetti straps, hoodies and hats.
A school board report says the new policy, "draws on the principles of equity, anti-oppression, anti-racism, non-discrimination, equitable and inclusive education."
The board has been consulting for more than a year with parents, teachers and students.
The new dress code isn't a free-for-all. There are some restrictions.
Students are not allowed to wear anything with offensive or vulgar language or pictures. Students must also have their groin, buttock and nipple areas covered by, "opaque material."
