A 16-year-old girl could end up with a criminal record after she posted on social media, asking classmates to bring weapons to school today.
She is a student of St. Edmund Campion Secondary School in Brampton, near Bovaird Dr and Creditview Rd.
Peel police say she posted the message to Snapchat, with the intention of causing a lockdown at the school. Const. Harinder Sohi says the post advised that she did not want anyone to get hurt.
Officers were sent to the school Monday morning, and the teen was identified and arrested.
Police say that there were no reports of students actually bringing weapons to school.
Investigators say they have not yet laid charges, but the girl could face charges of uttering threats or criminal harassment.
