The body of a young boy, who was swept away down lake last month after trying to save a friend, has finally been recovered.
9-year-old Alex Ottley, fell through the ice and disappeared in Peacock Point on the shores of Lake Erie on February 15th, trying to save his friend after the two and another child had been playing on the ice.
Tuesday afternoon, Ottley's body was located along the shore line at around 2 p.m.
Ottley's 8-year-old friend was rescued, after the third child, Ottley's 10-year-old sister, had gone to get help.
The local detachment of the OPP confirmed an area resident spotted ottley's body about 40 feet off shore, from their home window.
Police had searched for Ottley for nearly two weeks by water and air, but were hampered by poor weather conditions.
The body was retrieved by the OPP Marine Unit and will undergo a post-mortem exam in Toronto.
