The question surrounding when children will actually get back to school still hasn't been answered, and it's not clear when it will be.
What we do know — all students in the Toronto School District must wear masks in September.
Speaking to CP24 Tuesday night, Toronto District School Board interim director Carlene Jackson says the board is going to need more time before kids get back into class.
"Likely a week, maybe two," Jackson says. "We're still trying to assess what we need to get in place in order for schools to open safely, but with all of the different changes in direction and pivots that we've been making, we don't feel that September 8 will be reasonable unless we're able to pull off a miracle but at this point in time we really don't think that it's feasible."
This comes after the Ministry of Education's announcement yesterday, that boards would be able to stagger a re-opening over two weeks as opposed to just the first week.
This means that different grades could start on different days throughout the first two weeks in order for kids to return safely.
Yesterday evening, the TDSB voted in favour of making masks mandatory for all students from kindergarten to Grade 12.
The TDSB's back to school pre-registration indicates roughly 25 per cent of elementary students won't be returning to class.
