Union Station is going to be a beautiful place, when they finally finish builing it.
At times over the last decade, it's felt like you'd have a better chance at winning the lottery, than seeing the completion of the rail station, first built in 1927.
There's some good news to report.
A new staff report says the project is progressing within the approved budget. That's a bonus.
The downside? There are "risks to the completion schedule."
The report puts the blame on earlier contractor performance issues, but also with the pandemic.
Physical distancing requirements and limited construction crews during the pandemic, has meant delays in opening new retail space, as well as completing the Bay Concourse renovations.
Spokesperson Brad Ross says the major construction piece of the project will be completed by the end of this year, and he says the project will finally be completed by early to mid-2021.
The budget for the project, that was first announced when Jean Chretien was still Prime Minister, stands at $824 million.
