Investigators with Peel Regional Police Homicide and Missing Persons Bureau have made a third arrest in the death of a Brampton man last week.
Last Monday at approximately 5:50 p.m., officers responded to a call of an assault in the area of Sandalwood Parkway East and Cedarcliff Trail in the City of Brampton. When they arrived, they found Paviter Singh Bassi suffering from life-threatening injuries. Bassi was rushed to a Toronto Trauma Centre where he died of his injuries.
On Friday, Peel investigators arrested and charged 21 year old Gurraj Bassi of Brampton with First Degree Murder.
Peel Const. Balli Saini confirming to Newstalk 1010 that while the last names are the same, there is no connection between the victim and the suspect, who was arrested on Friday.
"I do want to clarify that the victim Paviter Singh Bassi and the accused have no family relationship."
But Gurraj Bassi is the cousin of Karanvir Singh Bassi, who was also arrested for First Degree Murder of Paviter Singh Bassi on Tuesday.
Gurraj Bassi appeared at the Ontario court of Justice in Brampton on Saturday for a bail hearing.
