Toronto Police have charged three men in connection with a shooting that targeted a pregnant woman and her boyfriend as they slept.
The couple was shot in bed in their apartment on Kipling Ave, south of Steeles Ave W at about 1:20 a.m. Tuesday.
Superintendent Ron Taverner said Tuesday that three black men dressed in dark clothing and wearing disguises got into the apartment and opened fire.
On Tuesday night, Seraphin McKenzie, Tola Paul, and Edsel Augustin were arrested near Jane St and Finch Ave W. They each face 15 gun-related charges, the most serious of which is attempted murder.
The woman, 11 weeks pregnant, and her boyfriend suffered non life-threatening injuries in the attack. The fetus is not in any danger and two children in another bedroom at the time of the shooting were not hurt.
Police say the victims knew their attackers.
Taverner said Tuesday that the shooting has 'gang tones' and may have been retaliatory. The man shot had been wanted by police on numerous charges including attempted murder and in connection with a home invasion robbery.
Tola Paul was arrested last year in connection with a stabbing at a bar near Jane St and Wilson Ave in which a machete was used but const. Jennifer Sidhu says all three supsects have a "lengthy" history with police.
