A church volunteer in Toronto has been arrested and charged with sexual assault and exploitation.
Police a 64-year-old man was a volunteer at St Cecilia's Catholic Church, near Keele and Annette Sts, when he allegedly sexually assaulted four victims.
According to police, the victims range in age from 12 to 21, and the asaults allegedly happened over the past year.
Neil McCarthy, spokesperson for the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Toronto, says the volunteer has been removed from his work pending the results of the investigation.
"These are certainly very serious charges and we are co-operating fully with the police as they continue their investigation," McCarthy says.
The Archdiocese is not revealing what kind of volunteer work the man had been doing, to protect the identity of the victims.
Phuoc Van has been charged with four counts of sexual assault, two counts of sexual interference, and sexual exploitation.
