If the City Manager's estimates are right it's about to get a whole lot harder to land a subsidized child care spot in Toronto.
Chris Murray has fired off a letter to Toronto City Council warning that changes to child care funding by the province is going to have a dire impact.
His assessment is that it's going to cost the city $84 million, alone, this year and that the changes put over 6,100 subsidized child care spaces at-risk.
In his letter Murray does note, however, that the provincial budget didn't provide enough details for the city to firmly state the exact impact and that staff prepared the estimates with the best information available.
