Drugs have claimed the life of one person who police say suffered a drug overdose at Polson Pier's Rebel Night Club Friday night.
The venue formerly known as the Sound Academy was hosting a sold out all-ages performance by electronic duo Dvbbs.
Toronto Paramedics say they were called to the venue three times late Friday and early Saturday. Spokesperson Kim McKinnon tells NEWSTALK 1010 they transported one patient to a trauma centre in life-threatening condition. Two others were treated in hospital for what McKinnon calls "minor medical conditions".
Toronto Police say they checked on two overdose patients in hospital who had been at Rebel on Friday night.
Const. David Hopkinson says police received four other calls for possible overdoses at the club.
"When officers showed up to investigate (the supposed victims) refused to part of the investigation," Hopkinson said Monday. "They wouldn't identify themselves and they wouldn't co-operate. So we have no idea if it was in fact an overdose or not."
Hopkinson says it will take a medical examiner to determine which the concert-goer overdosed on by City News reports a 19-year-old woman was killed by MDMA, better known ecstasy or molly.
