There are new developments in last winter's case of a Toronto Police officer accused of raiding a dead man's stash.
The cop at the centre of the story faces police code-of-conduct charges under Ontario's Police Services Act.
NEWSTALK 1010 has also learned his name:
Const. Junior McLaughlin is accused of Consuming Alcohol in a Manner Prejudicial to Duty.
It was late last January when the 25-year Toronto Police veteran was ordered to guard potential evidence at the home of a man who had recently died.
Allegations are McLaughlin helped himself to the man's booze and cigars.
Paramedics were dispatched to the home after McLaughlin was reportedly heard slurring his words in police radio calls.
The claim is that McLaughlin was so drunk that he had passed out.
None of the allegations have been proven.
Word of this alleged incident came only days after allegations surfaced that two of McLaughlin's Toronto Police colleagues ate marijuana edibles while on duty and called for help when they started hallucinating.
McLaughlin, who is currently on duty at Toronto Police 23 Division (based in Rexdale), appeared at Tuesday's hearing in his police uniform.
His case returns to the disciplinary tribunal late next month.
