Toronto councillors have voted in favour of launching a pilot project allowing some residents to keep the farm animals on their properties.
The pilot project will allow residents to keep up to four chickens in four wards for now - Etobicoke-Lakeshore, High Park, Forest Hill, and the Beaches areas. You would need sufficient outdoor space and would not be allowed to sell the eggs.
Some councillors against it say chickens are dirty, smelly, loud, and a lot of work.
Those in favour of the idea say it's about food sustainability.
The pilot project will last for up to three years, with an interim review halfway through.
