A voice familiar to NEWSTALK 1010 listeners will soon be heard on the provincial election campaign trail.
City councillor Shelley Carroll has been appointed by the Premier to be the Ontario Liberals' candidate in the new riding of Don Valley North.
Carroll will be on the ballot at election time next year.
The veteran city councillor has also served as a Toronto District School Board trustee, and later as the city’s budget chair under former mayor David Miller.
Carroll has represented her ward in Don Valley East since 2003.
She announced last fall that she would see the Liberal nomination in the new riding but it was announced on Tuesday that she has been appointed as the candidate.
Don Valley North is one of 15 new Ontario ridings in play for the next election.
It isn't clear yet whether or not Carroll plans to continue in her role as a city councillor.
