Toronto Mayor John Tory says if the city's public health team determines more needs to be done to prevent the spread of the virus, he's prepared to sign off on it.
In a news conference today, Tory said the city is focusing on four key areas heading into the fall that Toronto Public Health will investigate:
Tory told NEWSTALK1010's The Rush this afternoon that if public health finds closing bars and restaurants at an earlier hour would help, he would like to see a closing time of midnight across the board.
But Tory also promised to look into further support for impacted businesses if new regulations had to come into place.
Tory was not specific about regulations for wedding and banquet venues.
Although testing is a provincial matter, Tory said he would be willing to offer up city facilities as testing centres if the province needed it.
