It was a very brief court appearance today for a renowned Toronto neurosurgeon now charged with killing his wife.
Dr. Mohammed Shamji appeared by video looking tired, clean shaven, and wearing an orange prison suit.
He stated his name for the record in a loud, clear voice and then said "yes sir" when asked by the judge if he understood his next court date would be January 26th by video.
Shamji has been in custody since his arrest last month after the body of his wife, Dr. Elana Fric-Shamji, was found in a suitcase in Vaughan on December 1st.
Both the Crown and defense need more time to exchange evidence which is the purpose for the appearance later this month.
