A string of violent street robberies in North York has Toronto Police warning people to be safe.
Four robberies have occurred between Oct. 12 and Oct. 20 south of York University in the area bounded by Finch Avenue West to the south,The Pond Road to the north, Keele Street to the east, and Sentinel Road to the west.
Police say in each incident, a form of violence has either been threatened or used against the victims. In one instance the victim was punched in the face, in another a knife was held to the victim's back.
Various items have been taken including cash, debit and credit cars as well as electronic devices including cell phones.
Police say "varying descriptions" of suspects have been given to them.
Police are reminding people to always be aware of their surroundings particularly during the evening hours, walk in pairs and on well-lit paths.
