Toronto Police will be busy over the next two and a half weeks with two separate blitzes aimed at curbing poor driving behaviour.
Starting on Monday, a week-long Distracted Driving campaign will be targeting motorists using hand-held devices while behind the wheel.
Police say motorists can expect zero-tolerance if they're caught using their phones.
Meantime, Monday will also see the launch of the Rush Hour Route campaign. Until February 1, police say there will be zero tolerance for any vehicles that are blocking or congesting rush hour routes.
At a skating party at Mel Lastman Square on Sunday, Mayor John Tory remarked that distracted driving "is just unacceptable behaviour in 2019 or any time in the interest of pedestrian safety in particular," while adding that people who continue to park in an "inconsiderate manner" during rush hour will be tagged and towed.
