A Toronto Police sergeant has been found not guilty of two counts of sexual assault.
Sgt. Christopher Heard was accused of assaulting two women on different occasions in the fall of 2015.
The allegations were that he drove each woman home from the Entertainment District and assaulted her in his police cruiser.
Heard denied the accusations, telling court that he decided to drive them home for their own safety because they were drunk.
The judge found that evidence from the complainants was inconsistent and unreliable, but he also chastised Heard for his conduct.
The sergeant is still suspended with pay while his conduct is also put in front of the police tribunal.
Heard is also facing Police Services Act charges for allegedly not turning on his in-car camera, not telling dispatch where he was while driving the women home, and for not taking notes about the incident until a complaint was filed.
