The TORONTO sign will be dimmed tonight and City Hall will go dark to honour the victims of the terror attack on a Mosque in Quebec City.
Mayor John Tory calls the shooting a shocking, horrifying and unspeakable act.
Six people were killed, 19 others were wounded when a gunman opened fire Sunday night inside the Centre Culturel Islamique de Quebec.
Security measures in Toronto are being taken in the wake of the tragedy.
Mayor John Tory says he had several discussions with the Office of the Police Chief this morning. He was assured it was taking part in a national conversation with its counterparts today, going over all possible implications of the attack and to make sure everyone is on the same page from a security standpoint.
"They are going to, of course, continue with the efforts that they always undertake to make sure, in consultation with the national security agencies and so on, that Torontonians, as a whole, are safe," Tory says. "They are looking to make sure that people in the Muslim community, in particular, feel that everything possible is being done to make sure they are safe and feel safe inside their places of worship."
The mayor wouldn't go into detail because of security sensitivity.
