NEWSTALK 1010 has learned that the Toronto Police Association is holding a no confidence vote against chief Mark Saunders.
The electronic vote asks members to vote on whether they have confidence in Saunders' leadership.
The union says in an internal memo that "the chief's lack of leadership continues to jeopardize member and public safety."
The union has been fighting for more resources, arguing that staffing levels are at a "crisis point."
The vote ends on February 21st.
CTV public safety analyst Chris Lewis says this vote would have no legal ramification.
"He'll still have his job the next day, regardless of how the vote goes."
