The City of Toronto has reported its first human case of the West Nile virus of the year.
Officials with Toronto Public Health say that an adult recently tested positive. They were hospitalized for the illness but are now recovering at home.
West Nile virus is transmitted through a mosquito bite.
Officials say that symptoms can take two weeks to develop and include fever, headache, nausea, vomiting, body aches, skin rash and swollen lymph glands.
