Toronto's Caribbean Carnival has been cancelled due to COVID-19.
A written statement from festival organizers says the decision was made in light of public health concerns over the pandemic.
The Carnival is best known for its Grand Parade, which was scheduled for August 1st.
The cancellation affects all eventsĀ in the weeks leadingĀ up to the parade.
Organizers say if social distancing restrictions are lifted by Canada Day, "we will seek to celebrate together in a non-traditional format the weekend of August 1, 2020."
