Here's something you don't hear everyday: Toronto could see funnel clouds.
Environment Canada says that doesn't mean we'll be seeing tornadoes downtown, but conditions are favourable for the development of funnel clouds in Toronto and parts of Ontario today.
Hamilton, Halton, Peel, York, Durham and Niagara are also included in the weather advisory.
Forecaster Geoff Coulson says the it's not just a passing risk either.
"The greatest risk is in the afternoon hours, into the evening. Once the sun starts to set, the risk of these types of funnels starts to diminsh."
Coulson says there is a chance for unsettled weather again on Friday.
As for what causes this he says it's just the conditions.
"It's more related to the large dome of unseasonably cool air that is over southern Ontario. As the warm air rises and passes through that, the updrafts can continue to intensify and that can produce weak thunderstorms, capable of producing thunderstorms."
